Smelly Sneakers and What You Can Do

Joseph Berger  |    30 January 2019  |    Home Cleaning Tips

As we all know, working out has many good side effects. There are however some costs included. One of them is smelly sneakers. Whether it's your cycling shoes, your running shoes, or your weightlifting shoes, your trainers may have developed a funk. Fortunately, the cleaning professionals at You've Got Maids have some recommendations for you.

  1. Baking Soda - Toss a pinch of baking soda underneath the slip in your shoes. Come to think of it, you might want to put some in your gym bag and the trunk of car as well.
  2. Freeze Them - Some people recommend freezing your shoes in order to neutralize all that is smelly. Not our particularly favorite option, but an effective one.
  3. Febreze - Febreze is sure to do the trick.
  4. Wash Them - Shoes made of fabric are capable of washing without being destroyed. Wash with a couple of towels inside and run on warm. Some white vinegar will help as well. Keep the towels around for the dryer so as to dampen the noise.
