Guests stopping by? Don’t have time for an intense clean? We have all found ourselves, at one point or another, with unexpected company. While a clean home is a happy home, life happens and things get left out and toys get strewn everywhere. There are a couple quick steps that will help you tidy up in a hurry. Remember, this isn’t to get your house clean, just a little tidier for that quick drop in.
Organize for a Quick Clean Up
Organizing is a great way to be prepared at all times. It is a smart step for planning ahead. Baskets on shelves, bins and trunks are helpful ways to get things out of site quickly and easily, while still keeping them organized. These are great for kids as well because they can pick up their own toys with ease.
For a quick clean up, start at the bottom. Our tendency is to start with the surfaces, but clearing the floor makes a much bigger impact for your limited time. Get the kids to help. Stack magazines and books quickly on a table, lay the throw across a chair arm or in a blanket basket, send the kids away with an armful of toys. I promise, in 5-10 minutes, you’ll see a huge difference.
Get a Fresh Start
The absolute best and quickest way to get rid of a mess is to not start with a clean, organized home. Starting with a freshly cleaned home from top to bottom will make it all that much easier to have to do the quick-pick-up.
