As the temperature starts to drop this time of year it's time to get your home ready for winter. Listed below are just a few things that absolutely need to be done and feel free to add your own.

    1. Gutters- great time to clear out leaves prior to any winter weather like snow or ice.
    2. Windows/Doors- make sure weather stripping isn't worn to keep those areas from excessive drafts.
    3. Power equipment- empty out all gas from outdoor power equipment; mowers, weedeaters, edgers, pressure washers, etc.
    4. Ceiling fans- reverse the direction of the fan to circulate the heat.
    5. Chimney- if you have a chimney have it cleaned out professionally to prevent any fires.
    6. Hoses- garden hoses should be removed from external faucets and then have faucets covered to prevent them from freezing.

And last but not least is having the inside of your home professionally cleaned by You've Got Maids of Fort Wayne. Call 260-487-6243 today for a free house cleaning estimate.
