How To Remove A Stain From Granite

Written by Amanda | Sep 25, 2014 12:03:42 PM

I've never had a stain on my granite but it seems this is a rather common issue. From water stains to rings that were left on the counter top, from a drink or a coffee cup. Most of the time a stain on granite counter tops can be cleaned with common household items.

Water Stain

Start with some baking soda. If your need is to clean up a water stain, grab the box of baking soda and mix it with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. It should be a thick paste. Spread it over the stain, then cover the area with plastic wrap, taping down all the edges. Leave it overnight or for most of the day or longer if you think you might need to. Then just wipe it down rinsing the area and shine the granite counter top. Make sure you are testing a small area first as with anything.

Oil stain

Same thing applies here. Grab the baking soda, mix this with water. Make a thick paste and spread over the area. Then let it sit overnight or for a few days, before rinsing, washing and shining it up.
