Top 3 Way to Clean Your Stove Top

Cleaning a stove top can be back breaking work, if you let the spills and splatters sit for too long. In order not to turn this 30 sec. clean-up into a 10 minutes or more clean-up, attack the grime right away, head on! These spills and splatters on the burners and stove tops can cause unwanted smells, fumes and smoke. In some instances even cause a small fire. We've found these easy to follow cleaning tips helpful:

Note: Always make sure knobs are in the off position and burners/eyes/coil/surface is warm or cool to the touch before cleaning.

1. Coil stove top- Remove coils and trays from the stove when cooled to the touch. Place both parts in sink; let the trays soak in a mild soap and water mix. Letting them soak allows the crud and grime to break down. Use the mixture to remove burned on food from the coils. Rinse with plain fresh water and pat/wipe dry thoroughly with a dry cloth/rag. Replace both parts and check for operational use.
2. Gas range stove top- these require deeper cleaning. You may have to take apart the burners to clean. The burner holes can become clogged from spills and splatters. Place grates and burner parts into the sink with a mild soap and water mix. Use an abrasive scrubbing pad to remove the charred and grimy burned on food. Rinse all parts thoroughly with plain fresh water and pat/wipe dry with a rag/cloth. Replace all parts and check for operational use.
3. Ceramic stove top- We here at You’ve Got Maids use Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner & Polish, it works best. Put it on but don’t let it dry and use a razor blade at a 45 degree angle away from your body and other hand. This will remove your toughest burnt on crud! When finished use a damp cloth or sponge to remove the debris.

To prevent this problem from recurring, consider hiring a cleaning company to come in for weekly cleans. You’ve Got MAIDS is the best cleaning service in Virginia Beach and we can help keep your stove grime free!
