Musings on Individuality, the American Dream and the Brave act of Starting Your Own Business
The Joys of Entrepreneurship
My job is so cool. I get to help entrepreneurs cross the threshold of business ownership.
This week a couple in Atlanta signed a franchise contract and were so excited to get started that they didn't want to wait for the December franchise training week!
They wanted to start on Thanksgiving Day, and given their level of enthusiasm, I couldn't turn them down. I scheduled a training to start Black Friday. They are thrilled.
Crossing the Threshold
We have a handful of threshold moments in life; getting your drivers license, graduating, getting married, and the birth of your first child, these are threshold moments that change your future and who you are. Opening your first business is a profound, threshold moment.
"I'm infatuated with starting new businesses. It's been my dream since I was a teenager. In the early 1980’s I didn't have a clue of how to start a business," says Berger. "I thought business school would be the answer, but back then business school was about being a good employee."
I had to figure it out on my own. Now I get to coach new franchisees each step of the way. Starting a new business is a bold decision, and I love being a part of it.
