Seth Godin on Guarding Our Minds

  Frank Berger  |    Sep 9, 2009 1:00:25 AM  |    Founders Blog

Seth Godin asks Do You Have 16 Boxes? Seth is the author of Permission Marketing and Purple Cow (both sitting on my shelf). Seth writes:

The problem with whining is this: human beings like to be right. If you persuade yourself and your friends that times are really tough and that you're bound to fail, you'll probably do the things you need to do to make that true in the long run.

We are what we think. The difference between a good day and a bad day is what we choose to think about. In Philippians, Paul tells us to fix our thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Seth and Paul would be in agreement on the importance of guarding our minds. Whatever we put in our head soon becomes our own personal reality. I’m going to try to weave this principle into the fabric of this day, and then who knows how long I can stretch it…
