Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, a book by Dr. Angela Duckworth, behavioral psychologist, examines the value of stick-to-it-ive-ness is in the pursuit in successfully obtaining a specific goal. Dr. Duckworth starts out by examining the graduation rates of West Point freshman relative to their "grit". She finds that those with higher levels of grit, that being the ability to continue on past initial and sustained obstacles, were more likely to make it to graduation day. Talent, intelligence, background, and so on, none of these other attributes correlated to success like grit. 

Unsurprisingly, the most successful entrepreneurs aren't so much the ones with the best SAT Scores, social charm, or situational opportunity, it's the entrepreneur who knows where they're going, and then doesn't stop going there. Day in and day out they pass hurdles and obstacles, steadfastly focused on the objective. They know it's a marathon, not a sprint, and they're going to be there at the finish line.
