You sometimes see a woman who would have made a Joan of Arc in another century and climate, threshing herself to pieces over all the mean worry of housekeeping. ~ Rudyard Kipling
Clearly, Rudyard Kipling was a progressive mind in his time, but he’s missing the big point. Joan of Arc was tied to a tall pillar in the Vieux-Marche in Rouen and lit on fire for her moral courage. It was the all male ruling elites way of saying “Thanks for saving France”. I would not have wanted to be a woman living in Europe in 1431.
