Summertime brings about many great things, including some much needed sunshine. On a hot day, nothing is as refreshing as a cool glass of lemonade. That being said, sometimes spills happen. When life gives you lemons, and then the lemonade you turn them into spills on the carpet, here's how to clean up:

  • Clean the spilled lemonade on your carpet by using a cloth or sponge and repeatedly blotting the lemonade. This will help remove the lemonade so that it won’t get deep into the fibers of the rug. Just remember not to rub on the stain though as doing it will only get the lemonade on some unaffected areas of the rug.
  • Once you've removed the lemonade spill out of the carpet, it's time to manage the stain that it has caused. You'll want to use a green cleaning solution to remove the stain, and it's very easy to prepare. Combine a teaspoon of clear ammonia and add it to a cup of warm water. Apply this solution to the lemonade stain on the rug and allow a couple of minutes to pass before moving to the next step.
  • After applying the green cleaning solution, go on and blot the lemonade stain repeatedly. Blotting will help remove the stain methodically out of the carpet fibers and into to the surface of the cloth. Keep on blotting the stain until you are able to get rid of it completely.
  • Use a spray bottle which contains clean water onto the previously stained area of the rug. Spray the area a couple of times to help flush out any residue that could stay behind the carpet fibers. After doing so just dry the area with some clean rags or towels to complete the task.
