The dishwasher is the greatest invention ever. Not only does it solve the painful chore of hand washing dishes it also saves a great deal of time. We all know that dishwashers clean dishes, but there are a number of other items around the house that can also be cleaned in the dishwasher.
Keeping the kids room clean can be chore. Getting the kids to actually help out is another thing. This doesn't have to be a difficult process and can actually be fun if done right. First thing I did with my daughter was to make it more of a competition than an actual chore. I told her I could clean my room faster than she could hers. This really got her motivated to be the old man. While this may have worked sometimes it wasn't a full proof plan for continued cleaning. I still continued to make it fun by offering prizes for keeping her room clean for a week straight or picking up her dirty clothes without being told to. While it probably will be an on going battle for her to keep her room completely clean, she has taken a little more pride in keeping it a more neat. See how others get kids to clean:
