Is House Cleaning A Commodity?

At You’ve Got MAIDS we believe that residential house cleaning is not a commodity.  Crude oil, corn, rubber and coal are commodities.  A barrel of oil is worth roughly the same amount of money no matter where you purchase it.  Commodities can be mass produced, but I have yet to find a commodity that can clean your commode.

Human beings are all different, and residential cleaning service are chuck full of human beings.  Some cleaning services are better than other for attracting, training and retaining quality maids.  You’ve Got MAIDS is the type of cleaning service to which I refer.  That’s why we will not be the cheapest maid service in your town, and if you knew what was best for you, you wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Know Thyself” was inscribed into the Temple of Apollo at Delphi.   It’s still a good idea especially for a domestic cleaning service franchise.   I turned down a potential Client who wanted our professional home cleaning services to do work that fell outside the range of what we do.  It was a deal breaker for both of us, but she was truly surprised that we would turn down business.

When we first started the domestic cleaning service, You’ve Got MAIDS, I probably would have played limbo for her, and ended up making no one happy.  It is good to know who you are.  Sometimes the best course of action is to turn down a cleaning service that would distort your companies values. Less is more.

I challenge you to do one thing really well.  You’ve Got MAIDS cleans homes.  We know what we do, and we do it very well.  Each morning, at our domestic cleaning service staff meetings, we refocus our commitment to living up to our trademark…America’s Finest Maid Service.
